THE SPECIFIED DAY OF THE WRATH OF GOD
I must be very brief about this vast day as we have very little space left. Ten of the O.T. prophets spoke
extensively about “the Day of The Lord.” Look them up in a concordance and read them carefully for Peter
reminds us to “be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets” ( 2Pet. 3:3). What you will find
is that the running theme of the prophets about this day is that it is ”the day of the fierce anger of the Lord”
(Isaiah 2:10-12, 13:6-9,13). Also you will see repeatedly that it is “a day of darkness in which there is no
brightness” (see Amos 5:18-20).
Not only are we to have our minds full of the words of the prophets but Peter adds “…and of us the
apostles of the Lord” (2 Pet.3:2).
Study this diagram as well. “…THE DAY OF WRATH AND REVELATION
Three of God’s apostles spoke about OF THE RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT OF GOD.” Rom. 2:5
“The Day of The Lord.” Paul tells us
when it will begin while Peter tells us “…YOU KNOW “…I WAS IN THE SPIRIT “…THE DAY OF THE LORD
when it will end. The apostle John was PERFECTLY THAT ON THE LORD’S DAY, SO COMES AS
given a blow-by-blow account of “The THE DAY OF THE AND I HEARD BEHIND ME A
Day of The Lord.” LORD SO COMES LOUD VOICE AS A TRUMPET, A THIEF IN THE NIGHT
SAYING… WHAT YOU SEE IN WHICH
Revelation begins with John being “in AS A THIEF IN WRITE IN A BOOK…”
the Spirit on the Lord’s Day” (Rev. 1:10). THE NIGHT…” THE HEAVENS WILL
This is NOT speaking of the Sabbath Rev. 1:10 PASS AWAY…”
day, but rather of “the Day of The Lord.” 1 Thess.5:1-2 2 Pet. 3:10
Jesus gives John a threefold division to
this book in saying, “Write the things TTHHEE AAPPOOSSTTLLEE PPAAUULL THE APOSTLE JOHN TTHHEE AAPPOOSSTTLLEE PPEETTEERR
which you have seen, and the things
which are, and the things which will take
place after this” (Rev. 1:19).
John sees Jesus behind him as “The Righteous Judge” who is standing in the midst of His churches calling
five of the seven to “repent or else.” Peter states that “judgment begins at the house of God” (1 Pet. 4:17).
John is “in the Spirit on the Day of the Lord”, the “Day of the fierce wrath of God”, Jesus appears and
commissions him to write a book about “The Day of The Lord” and give it to the churches, because that is
where judgment begins! The rapture takes place according to the apostle Paul at the beginning of The Day
of The Lord when Jesus comes as “a thief in the night” (1Thess. 5:2). Paul tells the faithful, “But you,
brethren, are not in darkness so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light…God
did not appoint us to wrath…” (1Thess. 5:4-9).
The church is presently “the light of the world” (Mat. 5:14) and “the pillar and ground of the truth”
(1Tim.3:15). By the rapture on the Feast of Trumpets, at the beginning of “the last day”, at the beginning of
“The Day of The Lord”, God will remove both THE LIGHT and THE TRUTH and replace them with a strong
delusion of THE LIE and DARKNESS. Read 2 Thessalonians very carefully! The purpose of the rapture is
not to keep God’s people from tribulation, or to escape our daily problems, but rather it is for the purpose of
enabling The Day of The Lord to be a “Day of darkness with no brightness in it” (Amos 5:18-20).
The rapture MUST be a pre-tribulation, pre-wrath, event! The Day of The Lord cannot become a day of
darkness as long as “the light of the world” is still present! The strong delusion called “The Lie” cannot
come forth as long as “the truth” is still present! The great darkness of The Day of The Lord is SPIRITUAL
DARKNESS as prophesied by the prophets:
“I WILL SEND A FAMINE ON THE LAND… OF HEARING THE “THE WHOLE VISION HAS BECOME TO YOU LIKE
WORD OF THE LORD, THEY SHALL WANDER FROM SEA TO THE WORDS OF A BOOK THAT IS SEALED,
SEA, AND FROM NORTH TO EAST; THEY SHALL RUN TO WHICH MEN DELIVER TO ONE WHO IS LITERATE,
AND FRO,SEEKING THE WORD OF THE LORD, SAYING, ‘READ THIS, PLEASE’, AND HE SAYS,
‘I CANNOT, FOR IT IS SEALED.”
BUT SHALL NOT FIND IT.” Isa. 29:11
Amos 9:11-12
More could be said about “The Day of The Lord”, but as you can see, we are out of space.
