Below (1 Cor. 15:1-3) Paul identifies the threefold cord
that comprises “the gospel.” We are not saved by the
single act of the death of Christ, but rather through
His death, His burial, and His resurrection. Paul said,
“and if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile, you are
still in your sins!” (1 Cor. 15:17). It takes more than
Christ dying for our sins! It also requires His
