LESSON # 15:
“BAPTISM IN SPIRIT”
Jesus used Himself as a pattern for every follower of
His. He was not only baptized in water, but immediately
afterward the Spirit descended upon Him as He came
out of the water. Then, and only then, did the Spirit lead
Him into the wilderness to be tempted (tested) by the
devil for 40 days. We live in times in which both water
baptism and Spirit baptism have been deemed “not for
today.” Beware of that thinking! The devil is still in the
business of tempting God’s people. We still need this
dual expression of power as did our example Jesus!
THE DOCTRINE OF
“THEN JESUS,
WHEN
HE HAD BEEN BAPTIZED,
CAME UP IMMEDIATELY
FROM THE WATER,
AND BEHOLD…
HE SAW THE SPIRIT
OF GOD DESCENDING
LIKE A DOVE AND
ALIGHTING UPON HIM.
THEN JESUS WAS
LED BY THE SPIRIT
INTO THE WILDERNESS
TO BE
TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL..”
